Eye chart + FREE download for cutting

I love the trend for bold, quirky eye chart art that I've been seeing around, so I thought I'd try to make one of my own using my Cricut Explore. I love it! I put it on my mantel and now that I have all the supplies to make it, I'll be switching out the phrasing from time to time. My kids (one of whom wears glasses) thought it was fun too.

I'm going to share with you how I made this, so that you can make one of them for yourself.
First off you'll need to download my FREE design pdf, that I'm sharing with you - for free. You're welcome!

I'll list all the supplies (with links) at the bottom of this post.

Once you've downloaded my pdf go to the Cricut design space and upload the design.

I mounted my chart in a 12" x 16" RIBBA frame from Ikea. It's only $6.99 and looks great. Inside the mat it measures 7 3/4" x 9 3/4", so adjust your file size accordingly in the Cricut Design Space. My design is just under 7" wide because I wanted it to practically fill the space.

I used black vinyl for my lettering for a more traditional eye chart look, but of course you can switch up the colors to your heart's content. Cut your vinyl!

Remove all the negative space from the cut vinyl. This includes all the tricky areas inside the lettering.

Next, apply transfer tape to the design. Press over the whole design to ensure the vinyl has adhered to the transfer tape. I love this transfer tape - I've listed it at the end of the post. It works perfectly every time.

Peel away the backing paper of the vinyl so that you're left with the design on the transfer tape. It'll be back to front at this point, with the sticky side of the vinyl showing, so don't drop it.

To get a really accurate alignment, I placed the frame's mat over the top of my cardstock. This helped me centralize the design when I applied it to the cardstock. Rub over the design with your fingers so that the vinyl adheres to your cardstock and then gently peel back the transfer tape, leaving your design applied perfectly to your cardstock.

I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Below are my affiliate links to the supplies I used. Thanks for supporting my blog.
